Good morning boys and girls Today is Friday October 15th 2021 Today we remember Saint Teresa of Avila Saint Teresa of Avila lived in the 1500's and she was from Spain She was Carmelite nun who was very studious She loved to read and she loved to write She loved to study the Scripture and then write about it Because of her writing and her meditation on she became the first woman Doctor of the Church and as you know Doctors of the Church there are only 36 of them they were people who could study Scripture write about it and share with others Saint Teresa of Avila loved to pray. She was a very prayerful woman and she believed that prayer was coming into living contact with Jesus and that's something that I think is quite beautiful that when we pray to Jesus we come face-to-face with Him. Now, today's Gospel according to Luke we learn that a Centurion was present at Jesus's death on the Cross So let us read about the Gospel today When they came to the place that is called The Skull they crucified Jesus The soldier also mocked Him coming up and offering Him sour wine. It was now about noon and darkness came over the whole land until 3 in the afternoon while the sun's light failed and the curtain of the temple was torn in two Then Jesus crying with a loud voice said Father into Your Hands I commend My Spirit. Having said this He breathed His last When the Centurion saw what had taken place he praised God and says certainly this Man was innocent and when all the crowds who had gathered there for the spectacle saw what had taken place they returned home very upset The Gospel of the Lord Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ Boys and girls how can you be like Saint Teresa of Avila and devote your life to prayer? and how can we remember God's suffering and Jesus suffering on the Cross for us  How do we remember that? Let us pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Amen Oh God we give thanks for all the holy men and women who are example to us of faithfulness and trust in God May they serve as a guide for us so that we may follow in their ways Through Christ Our Lord Amen In the name of the Father and of Son and of the Holy Spirit.
