myself celebrating mass in an empty church but I'm surrounded by angels and Saints and the present I'll be your prayerful selves in the classroom when you will be praying this mess with me on Friday my name is Father Chan I would like to briefly introduce myself I'm the new priest t r i c Catherine's Parish in Glenrock the church that's right next to the school that's over there I've only been here two months so I'm fairly new and I've only been a priest for one year so I'm fairly new in all aspects of this song of this of this situation I suppose and I would really like to go into the school and walk around and get to introduce myself in person but unfortunately because of the pandemic I am unable you so so for all the teachers out there watching and praying with me here please invite me to your classroom to be a zoom I am available ready and looking forward to getting to know all the students in all of you teachers via Zoom and it's definitely been a difficult beginning of the year I was here actually when the first day of school happened with all the chaos and craziness of the cars lining everyone struggling to find out what to do with the protocols and entry into the school with the temperature guns and all that stuff definitely been a definite definitely a difficult beginning of the school year but it is my prayer that it goes smoothly under the Prudence direction of our principal and that God will keep us safe during this pandemic and that the year will go smoothly and this mass is celebrated on the occasion of the Feast of the guardian angels the guardian angels is not system it's not just a legend that we tell children to help them sleep at night no it's it's a true teaching that Jesus himself teaches us he says that your angels are always with my father your angels are always watching out for you they're your Guardians that God assigns to each one of us so that will be kept safe spiritually mentally and physically in our bodies as well Brothers and Sisters in Christ my dear children we are all on a journey and in the first reading from the book of Exodus God himself tells Moses I am sending an angel ahead of you the angel will protect you as you travel and will bring you to the I have made ready this is a sure promise that God not only promises Moses but also promises us he promises us that he will send the angel ahead of us on our journey and what exactly is this journey we need to know this our journey is to heaven to the Eternal Kingdom where God is where he is calling us and inviting us to we are on a journey from Earth this Earthly into eternal life into heaven any promises us that she will send an angel ahead of us so that we will know the right way we'll know the safe pads that we can take in order to get into 7 hour destination at the end of the first reading also reminds us after he makes this promise to us he says but you must obey him and do as he says kind of like a mask that we all wear throughout the day it keeps us safe and keeps others safe only if we make use of it only if we are faithful to what the mask is we wear the mask we will be kept safe and we will keep other safe it is similar with the guardian angels that God himself gives to US unless we obey the guardian angels then she will be of no use to us and what does that mean how do we obey our Guardian Angels give an example when I was a child I really wanted something I really wanted let's say got a date myself I really wanted to play this new Pokemon game and for Christmas my parents had given both myself and my brother each a poke a game and I got the silver I got Pokemon Silver and got Pokemon Gold I don't know if you guys would know this but the different versions of Pokemon but I really wanted the gold I didn't want the silver that I receive but I wanted to go and I really was jealous of my brother and when he was looking away I was thinking in my in my head I should just take it I should just take it and play it and claim that it's mine I knew that was wrong and you know he wants to play this game too why should I take it away from him and inside my heart there was this battle between choosing to do the right thing and choosing to do the wrong thing and stealing from him and there is where the guardian angel is speaking in your heart to do the right thing to choose the good and to avoid thinning to avoid doing evil if we obey and listen to the garden angel he will surely help us get to our destination in heaven but if you choose to ignore and push away our guardian angel in those moments of Temptation Ben Affleck masks that we don't wear the guardian angel will be of no help to us and we will surely go off on the wrong path and never reach heaven and not only do we obtain from the guardian angels this Feast of the Guardian Angels also reminds us of another thing let me think of stinks you think of people men and women that we want to imitate their models for holding happy want to somehow be imitators of in the same way the guardian angels are angels are holy people that we want to imitate so perhaps on this beginning of the school year the first first Friday mass we can think about how we can be guardian angels to our friends and our teachers and to everyone around us during the school year the guardian angels what does angel mean the word angel on Gallows in the original Greek it simply means messenger it means that angels are God's Messengers to that whatever he says wants us to know the Angels bring that message to us think of the Angel Arcangel Gabriel who came to the Virgin Mary and said Hail Mary full of grace you'll be with child you will give birth to the Son of God to Jesus nothing way to guardian angels are messengers of God so how can we imitate the guardian angels we watch out and we guard our Brothers and Sisters in Christ we make sure that our friends stay on the right path and that they do the right thing when we see our friends doing the wrong thing perhaps behind the teachers back or outside of school leaving we imitate The Guardian Angels by reminding them by being messengers of God's voice telling them no my friend this is not the right path the journey will take us this way but you're going that way come follow me let's go to heaven that is how we imitate the guardian angels even more concretely perhaps we can imitate The Guardian Angels by being faithful to the safety procedures that this pandemic brings us by guarding their bodies in our bodies well from this illness when we see people let me see our friends not being not listening to the directions of our teachers and the rules of the school following wearing at the masks and proper this we can probably give them a friendly yet firm reminder and so imitate The Guardian Angel by keeping us all safe and making sure that the school year goes safely so listen to your guardian angels and imitate your guardian angels and that way not only will be progressed this school year in a holy and healthy way we will progress in our journey this Earthly Journey from Earth to heaven May our Guardian Angels keep us holy happy and healthy amen pray brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God the Almighty father may the Lord accept the sacrifice at my hands for the praise and glory of his name for all good and the good of all his holy church receive O Lord the offerings we bring before you as we venerate your phone angels and graciously grant that under their constant protection we may be delivered from present dangers and brought happily to life eternal through Christ Our Lord amen the Lord be with you and with your spirit lift up your hearts we lift them up to the Lord let us give thanks to the Lord Our God it is right and just it is truly and just our duty and our Salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks Lord Holy Father Almighty and eternal God and to praise you without end in your archangels and angels for the honor repaved Angelic creatures in whom you Delight me down to your own surpassing glory and buy their great dignity and Splendor you show how infinitely great you are to be exalted above all things through Christ Our Lord through him the multitude of angels extols your majesty and we are united with them exalted adoration as with one voice of Praise we have claimed holy holy
