Art classroom rules/policies

Welcome back to another great year at Academy of Our Lady!

This year in Art, your child will be doing all sorts of amazing projects. We’ll learn about the ABC’s of Art (principles and elements), drawing techniques and basic construction. I will continue to integrate art into social studies, language arts, math and science helping the children make personal connections to their work and continue to deepen their learning. Many of my lessons have been inspired by other art teachers, artists, children's literature, nature and by the students themselves.

The class expectations are below. Please review and talk about them with your children.

  1. Always do your best
  2. Respect yourself, your classmates and the classroom supplies*
  3. Trust in yourself and your ability to create

*I have a 3 strike policy with expectation # 2. If your child receives 3 strikes you will be notified and they will spend their lunch period with me, helping with various jobs in the art room.

I believe that for students to be successful at school, we need to work as a team. Please feel free to contact me any time with concerns or questions about your child’s art education. My hope is that your child will have the absolute best art experience and gain new skills and confidence throughout the year. If there’s anything specific I can do to help make this happen, please let me know.

Thank you for your support!
