March 2024

During our Lenten journey, let us recognize the great sacrifice Christ made for all of us!  May we practice prayer, fasting, and almsgiving with a tremendous spirit of gratitude and grace.

THE SCIENCE CLASSROOM

All students will understand that science is both a body of knowledge and an evidence-based, model-building enterprise that continually extends, refines, and revises knowledge.  Students best learn science by doing science.  Science is not merely a collection of facts and theories but a process, a way of thinking about and investigating the world in which we live.  My students are involved in an inquiry based science classroom and are expected to work collaboratively with their peers while maintaining all health related guidelines and mandates.  Students will be required to make observations, participate in experiments, create models, and write about their investigations.  I will conduct several teacher demonstrations and students will participate in many hands-on activities.  Students will also participate in several STEM projects, and learn about the engineering design process.  All students are required to work collaboratively in their assigned STEM groups and fully participate in the annual Academy of Our Lady “SHARK TANK” STEM Fair.

SEVENTH GRADE SCIENCE: This course will cover topics related to mostly life science and STEM concepts.  This strong emphasis on life science in the seventh grade year will prepare students for future high school biology classes.  Some concepts learned in sixth grade will be explored in greater detail, while new material will be investigated.

EIGHTH GRADE SCIENCE: This course will cover topics related to physical science, some life science, and engineering design concepts.  There will be a strong emphasis on physical science in the eighth grade year which will prepare students for future high school physics and chemistry classes.

THE RELIGION CLASSROOM
