Homework

There will be homework every night in First Grade.

Nightly homework will typically consist of:

• Math page to review the lesson of the day
• Superkids page to reinforce various spelling, phonics, and reading skills
• Possible Spelling activity

Weekly homework/expectations will consist of:

• Spelling Word boxes are prepared at school and go home typically each Monday and remain home for studying purposes
• Spelling tests are typically given on Fridays  Students should also return their Spelling Word boxes on Fridays
• Monday folders are due each Monday and contain a reading log that should be filled out each day to ensure students are reading each day of the week.  They should be returned signed by a parent/guardian.  The Monday Folder also contains a Math Facts sheet that should be completed for Monday as well.  New sheets will replace the ones handed in each Monday.
  
• While not required, IXL is website that provides important practice in Reading, Language Arts, and Math skills.  I strongly urge you to encourage your child to use the site as means of review for any skills, and especially if you find them to be struggling at all.  Their account information should be found on the pocket of their Take Home folder.
