H.S.A. New Families

On behalf of the Home School Association, we would like to welcome you to Academy of Our Lady .  We are looking forward to meeting you and having our children learn and grow together in our wonderful school community.

Some Notes:

For the first day of school, the children (Gr. K-8) wear their summer optional uniform.  Please see the uniform page on the school website for details. Our uniform vendor is FlynnO'Hara. You will also see announcements for when the AoOL Uniform Closet is open. If your child's size is there, you can really save!

Our Student Council often has a "Color Day." For a payment of usually $1, which is donated to a worthy cause, you child can opt not to wear his or her uniform; however, he or she does need to look neat and presentable (NO T-SHIRTS are permitted but jeans are allowed).  Athletic/gym shorts are also not allowed.  Please be sure that girls' skirt and short lengths are school appropriate reaching past their fingertips with their arms at their side.

There are two class parents assigned to your child's homeroom. They will be your contacts if there are any questions regarding class activities, projects, parent volunteerism or field trips.

At Back to School night, there will be a volunteer sheet available to sign up if you are interested in helping out both your class parents or with HSA activities and events. It is important to share your email with the class parents at this time; they will have a sign up sheet for this purpose. Much communication is done via email with regards to class parties, trips, announcements, etc.

All parents are encouraged to attend HSA meetings. Watch this website for dates and times.

Be sure to read the online school calendar where everything is clearly explained and important dates are posted as well.

Parents are welcome to attend any school assembly such as those occurring during Catholic School Week, the last week in January.  During the 2020-2021, school assemblies are temporarily suspended due to Covid but will resume when it is safe for our students and families.

If your child is absent, you must contact the school nurse Mrs. Lee by 8 am. Her direct line is (201) 444-3890. You may leave a message. When you child returns to school, he/she must bring a note explaining the absence. Please do not call the main school office.

Students bring their own lunches to school as well as a healthy snack. There are no lunch deliveries.

The Green Envelope system is Academy of Our Lady's effort to conserve on paper and communicate any pertinent information to school families. On Wednesday of each week during the school year, a reminder email will be sent advising families of that week's fliers and directing them to the school website www.academyofourlady.org .

Please check out the rest of this website which contains a wealth of information regarding many aspects of life at Academy of Our Lady.

We hope you find this guide helpful and wish you a wonderful year at Academy of Our Lady!
