good morning and Welcome to our liturgy committee reading Catholic schools week Catholic schools week is a special time of the year when we celebrate and give thanks for Catholic Education especially our own School Academy of our lady we along with all Catholic schools Across the Nation are community Faith knowledge and service it is a time to give thanks for the wonderful learning that takes place each day in every classroom virtual or in person today would like to spray for acknowledge and thank you together in selflessly serving others through Catholic Education in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen loving father We Gather today is joyful and excited about our celebration of Kappa I'll be at Virtua we are blessed to be members of the school community and to be able to worship with our friends and teachers open our hearts to hear your word so that we can be better friends with your son Jesus Christ we ask this in His holy name amen save us O Lord Our God and gather us from the Nations to give thanks to your holy name and make it our glory to praise you In the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit the Lord be with you brothers and sisters let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred Mysteries you are sent to heal the contrite of Heart Lord have mercy came to call sinners Christ have mercy you are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us Lord have mercy May almighty God have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life let us pray grant us Lord Our God that we may honor you all our mind and love everyone in truth apart to our Lord Jesus Christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever a reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah the Lord says this share your food with everyone who is hungry and share your home with the poor and homeless give clothes to All In Need and don't turn away your own relatives then your light will shine like the dawning sun and you will quickly heal your honesty will protect you as you advance and the glory of the Lord will defend you from behind then call for help and the Lord will answer here I am don't oppress others or falsely accuse them or say cruel things give your food to the hungry and care for the help with then your light will shine in the darkness and your darkest hour will be like the Noonday Sun the word of the Lord thanks be to God our response is a light rises in the darkness for the bright a light rises in the darkness for the upright those who Worship the Lord will be so kind and merciful and good that they will be a light in the dark for others who do the right thing life will go well to those who freely land and are honest in business a light rises in the darkness for the upright they are dependable and not afraid they will always be remembered and greatly praised because they were taught and freely gave to the poor a light rises in the darkness for the upright alleluia alleluia set up says the Lord whoever follows me will have the light of Life Ali Lucia Hallelujah the Lord be with you a reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew Jesus said to his disciples you are like salt for everyone on Earth but if salt no longer tastes like salt how can it make food salty all that is good for is to be thrown out and walked on you are like a lights for the whole world a City built on top of a hill cannot be hidden and no one would light a lamp under a clay pot Atlanta plate a lamp is placed on a lamp stand where it can give light to everyone in the house make your light shine so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your father in Heaven the gospel of the Lord the Israelites are called the chosen people of God and this is made very very clear in the time where they leave the Egyptians slavery from Egypt wander around for 40 years in the desert until they reached the Promised Land in the desert through Moses the leader of the Israelites God makes a covenant with them any prom has been that if they follow his Commandments namely The Ten Commandments and the other laws that he gives them he promises then that he will make the Israelites people especially his own and if they keep his Commandments he will raise them high and praise and in name in Fame and they will be a people holy and sacred to himself this idea that if we follow the commands of God we will be his people will be made special that tried to be God's people is an idea that is not just for the Israelite people indeed Jesus in today's Gospel tells us you are like salt you are like light for the Earth and if you shine your light if you flavor the Earth with your saltiness and bites and make the darkness of the Earth right then you will make others praise God the Father others will see your good work your lights yourself and will begin to praise God for they will see over there is a follower of Jesus that person over there believes in God that's why his light her light is so bright this idea of Salt and Light being a people that is that are specially God's people is very it's very related to the history of Catholic Education believe it or not in the United States when the Catholics first came over mainly with the Irish immigrants coming over to the United States they were at the first persecuted there was a great auntie Catholic stigma an anti-catholic bias in the United States at the time being dominated by the Protestant churches and the Catholics would be pressured to go to public school which at the time was very much a very proud environment and they'll be forced to go to public schools to be indoctrinated into this American ideal which was beneath the surface Catholic and due to this the Catholics reacted and said no we want our own schools we want a place where we can practice our faith and still be American still be up right and good citizen while maintaining our Catholic values and our Catholic identity and so they did they went to the church if they went to the parishes kind of like Saint Catherine's and attached schools next to them and how religious sisters and brothers Peach and other late people as the years went on and so Begins the rich history of Catholic Education but the main goal apothecary from the very beginning was to maintain and Foster this identity this unique and perhaps peculiar identity to Stand Out Among the crowd not to blend in but to stand out and be noticeable as Catholics very similar to this notion that God makes the Israelites his people his own special Nation ask Catholics like the Israelites are called to be special to stand out and shine our light Shiner lights specially so brightly that if people see our good works our as a person reading says our feeding the hungry are sharing our homes with the poor and homeless giving our clothes to All In Need through our Good Deeds are good actions people will see and say that person over there is a Catholic that person over there graduated from Academy of our lady that's why that person has such outstanding character and good moral values from the very beginning this was the goal of Catholic Education do this week as we celebrate Catholic Education Catholic schools week what can we do concrete lie to live up to this challenge to live up to this goal if we are to be like if we are to shine light brightly out in the Earth then we have to first foster maintain and build up our own light in other words we have to be in Kindle kind of like used to start fire with kindling and Sparks we have to spark night that fire in our own hearts and this begins in our own schools in our own families and our own neighborhoods whenever you enter the doors of academy or resume to participate in class if you have your heart's in the right place and if you allow the Holy Spirit to inflame and ignite that fire in your heart then you'll be able to go out and be that light and be that Catholic that stands out in the crowd be that Academy graduates be that Academy student that stands out because they're good works RC brightly shining so the question that we asked ourselves that you might want to ask yourself is despite the distractions despite the difficult circumstances we find ourselves in this year am I Allowing God doing Kendall and ignite my heart with his love so that I can shine that love and that light back out into the world with confidence that God hears all of our prayers we offer our petitions to our Heavenly Father our response is Lord hear our prayer for Pope Francis all church leaders and our own pastors and Priests that they may continue to guide us in living our faith we pray to the Lord Lord hear our prayer for president and all those who hold leadership missions in our government that God will guide them in finding solutions to our nation's problems we pray to the Lord your prayer for The Unborn that they need for the protected and valued as we remember that all life is a precious gift from God we pray to the Lord Lord hear our prayer for all those in need may they find comfort in the prayers and generosity of others and that we is a school community may share with those less fortunate than ourselves we pray to the Lord Lord hear our prayer for Catholic schools across the country especially Academy of our lady that we need a shining example of God's unfailing love and shine a light for all to see we pray to the Lord Lord hear our prayer her parents may God bless them for all they have done for us and for recognizing the value of a Catholic Education we pray to the Lord Lord hear our prayer permissible Sal and our teachers may they continue to be a reflection of the love and kindness of Our Lord is Christ as they modeled him in their teaching we pray to the Lord Lord hear our prayer for all the sick or in need of God's healing may they find strength and comfort we pray to the Lord Lord hear our prayer for all who have gone before us may they enjoy peace in the loving care of our Lord we pray to the Lord Lord hear our prayer for all the intentions we deep within our hearts we pray to the Lord Lord hear our prayer God our Father we offer you these prayers and petitions as your children for your church in the entire world help us to be better examples and missionaries to shine the light on all the Earth so that your name may be praised and your son may be preached throughout the Nations ask this all through Christ Our Lord blessed are you Lord God of all creation for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you food of the earth and work of human hands it will become for us the bread of life blessed are you Lord God of all creation for 3 or goodness we have received the wind beyond for you through the body and work of human hands it will become our spiritual drink pray brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable God the almighty father oh Lord we bring to your alter these offerings of our service be pleased Steve them we pray and transform them into the sacrament of our Redemption through Christ Our Lord the Lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the Lord our God it is truly right and just our duty salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks father Most Holy through your beloved Son Jesus Christ your word through whom you made all things whom you sent as our savior and Redeemer in by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy people he stretched out his hand as he enjoyed his passion so as to break the bonds of death and manifest the resurrection and so with the angels and all the things we declare your glory as with one voice we acclaim holy holy holy Lord God of hosts Heaven and Earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord hosanna in the highest you are indeed holy O Lord the fount of all holiness make holy there for these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the Dew fall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples the same take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thing he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and Men Turn to You humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit remember Lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of Charity together with Francis our Pope and Joseph are bishop and all the clergy remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have widen your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that look A Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God was blessed Joseph for a spouse with a blessed Apostles and the Saints who have faced you throughout the ages we met married to be coerced to eternal life and they praise and glorify you through your son Jesus Christ through him and with him and in him oh God Almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever at the savior's command and formed by Divine teaching we dare to say Our Father who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but Deliver Us from Evil Deliver Us Lord we pray from every evil graciously Grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all the stress as we await the Blessed hope and the coming of Our Savior Jesus Christ Lord Jesus Christ who said to your Apostles peace I leave you my peace I give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church graciously grantor peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and Reign forever and ever the Peace of the Lord be with you always let us offer each other the sign of peace Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world have mercy on US Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world have mercy on US Lamb of God gift we pray oh Lord that through this help to Eternal salvation through faith May ever increase through Christ Our Lord the Lord be with you may almighty God bless you the father and the Son and the
