blessed are all who fear the lord and walk in his ways for the labor of your hands or she'll eat how are you I'm blessed will you be in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ in the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all my dear friends it is great gladness that I'm celebrating this first Friday mass for the month of May for all of you even though we can't be together at Mass the way we usually armed First Fridays I hope that all of you are still able to prayer fully participate and be happy that we have this opportunity to broadcast this man for you today we celebrate the memorial of Saint Joseph the worker we know Saint Joseph to be the Beloved husband of Mary and caring Foster father of Jesus but today we think about Saint Joseph in another way we think about him as a worker a person who works hard and therefore we pray in a special way for your parents your family members your teachers all the different workers that you know and we also pray for all of you boys and girls because and doing your school work and doing your homework you are also doing work and we pray that you might do this work diligently and do it joyfully as we begin to smash that has acknowledged our sins and to prepare ourselves to celebrate the secret mystery Lord Jesus you are the Son of God the Father Lord have mercy Christ Jesus you are comes into the Holy Family by Mary and Joseph Christ have mercy Lord Jesus you show us the beauty of family life and the importance of hard work Lord have mercy May almighty God have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life amen let us pray oh God creator of all things who laid down for the human race the law of work graciously granted by the example of Saint Joseph and under his patronage we made complete the work you set us to do and it's saying the rewards you promised through with you and the unity of the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever a reading from The Book of Genesis God said let us make man in our image after our likeness let them have dominion over the fish of the Sea and the birds of the air and the cattle and over all the wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground God created Man In His Image in the Divine image he created him male and female he created them God bless them saying be fertile and multiply and subdue it have dominion over the fish of the sea the birds of the air and all the living things that move on the Earth God also said see I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the Earth and every tree that has seed bearing fruit on it is to be your food and to all the animals of the land all the birds of the air and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground I give all the green plants for food and so what happened God looked at everything he has made and he sounded very good evening came and morning followed the 6th day thus the heavens and the Earth and all the raber completed since on the 7th Day God was finished with the work he had been doing God rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken so God bless the seventh day and made it holy because honest he rested from all the work he had done in creation the word of the Lord. Responsorial response is Lord give success to the work of our hands before the mountains were begotten and the earth and the 4 brookforest from Everlasting to Everlasting you are God lord gives us to the work of our hands back to dust saying return Children of Men for a thousand years in your sight or is yesterday now that it is past or as a watch of the night in the work of our hands teacher to number our days aright that we may gain wisdom of heart return O Lord how long have pity on your servants Lawrence gives to the work of our hands Phyllis at Daybreak with your kindness that we met shout for joy and gladness all our days let your work be seen by your servants and Your Glory by their children Lord gives Cinema World in our hands alleluia alleluia the Lord day by day God our Salvation who Bears our burdens the Lord be with you a reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew Jesus came to his native place and talk to people in their synagogue they were astonished and said where did this man gay such wisdom and why is he not The Carpenter's son is not his mother named Mary and his brothers James Joseph Simon and Judas sisters are with us where did this man get all this and they took offense at him but Jesus said to them a prophet is not without honor except in his knee play in his own house and he did not work many mighty Deeds there because of their lack of faith the gospel of the Lord praise the Lord Jesus Christ but your friends probably the question that you're asked more frequently than any other what do you want to do when you grow up and that question in other words is what work do you want to do what job do you want to have and it's the people in our lives that Inspire us and we want to look up to them and perhaps to follow in their footsteps and do the work that they do perhaps you want to work as your mom perhaps you want that the job that your dad is doing perhaps it's your teeth in school that inspires you or maybe it could be a random person that you see and say wow maybe I could do that too I remember when I was very very little my parents would bring me to Pizzeria because of course Pizza is my favorite food like many of you and I will see the person behind the counter making the pizza and I would just be amazed by it how responded though twirled it in the air how he put the cheese on the dough sprinkling heads and I would tell my parents that's what I want to do when I grow up I want to make pizzas I was always impressed also as I was getting ready for school in the morning how the garbage we put out in front of our home would disappear because these men with their garbage trucks to drive by and collect the garbage and these garbage trucks would be big massive and they would make all this garbage go away and I would say wow I want to drive one of these truck and operate it I would see police officers and firemen driving with their sirens on everyone's stopping for them said they could go first and they're speeding to an emergency I would say maybe that's what I could do when I grow up but then as I was a little older a little bit more serious I began to look at my parents and my dad is an engineer and my mom is a teacher and I loved science and math and I thought that maybe could be an engineer like my dad and in fact in high school and college for a little bit I worked with my dad as an engineer and I looked at my mom her great love of teaching and how it inspired me and also in college I talked part-time and I loved being in front of the classroom and I thought to myself maybe this is something that I could do in my life however even though I was impressed and inspired by my mom and dad and what they did what truly left the deepest impression on my heart was coming to church and seeing the work of the priest how did priests celebrate Mass how they prey how they offer the sacraments and it is there that my heart was that Russ and I came to realize that even though every job is beautiful is dignified is worthy to be done has meaning and purpose for me being a priest it is what God was calling me to be and the work that God was calling me to do are we having today's Gospel the example of Jesus he was inspired by his father st. Joseph was a carpenter and Jesus would work with Saint Joseph day in and day I said boy as a teenager and perhaps even as a young man and we have in today's Gospel the people saying is not Jesus The Carpenter's son yes but his Heavenly Father his true father was calling him to another type of work and so therefore in addition to being a carpenter Jesus also began to work of preaching up healing and of the saving Souls and that was the work that he was ultimately called to do boys and girls I encourage you on this the day of st. Joseph the Worker to think your Para your teachers and everyone else to come across for the work that they do providing for you helping you and all the people that God has placed in your life are there to help you figure out what God is calling you to do when you grow up and we see the people asking where did Jesus get such wisdom and mighty Deeds he got it through hard work I asked you and I challenge you my dear friends work hard in school at home because this way you two will have wisdom and be able to do many mighty Deeds and hopefully one day you can be the person that you want to be the car cause you to be and you'll get there because of the help of so many people around you and because of your own hard work everything day of your life my dear friends we now present our heavenly father our prayers and petitions for ourselves our families our school community and the whole world responses Lord hear our prayer we pray for care and healing we pray to the Lord for healthcare workers and First Responders we pray for safety and protection we pray to the Lord hear our prayer for Sunday major road to recovery be piece filled we pray to the law Lord hear our prayer Lord hear our prayer affected it's were facing difficult decisions and who fear the unknown let us pray to the Lord pray for shared solidarity we pray the Lord Lord hear our prayer Lord hear our prayer family students Terrace teachers and clergy we pray to the Lord Heavenly Father we ask you to accept the prayers that we offer you their intercession of Saint Joseph to whom you gave the wonderful work of taking care of your Eternal son Jesus Christ Our Lord amen blessed are you Lord God of all creation with your goodness we are for you from the earth and work of human hands to become for us the bread of life blessed be God forever blessed are you Lord God of location for three goodness received the wine we offer you from the vine and work of human hands will become our spiritual train blessed be God forever pray my dear friends that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God the almighty father may the Lord accept the sacrifice of your hands for the praise and glory of his name for adrenaline of all his Church oh God sounds of all Mercy look upon our offerings which we bring before your majesty in commemoration of Saint Joseph and mercy Legrand that the gifts we offer may become the means of protection for those who call upon you through Christ Our Lord amen the Lord be with you stop your heart let us give thanks to the Lord our God it is truly right and just our duty and our Salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks Holy Father Almighty and eternal God and on the commemoration of Saint Joseph to give you fitting praise to glorify you and bless you for this just man was given by you espoused to the virgin mother of God and set as a wise and faithful servant in charge of your household to watch like a father over your only begotten son who was conceived by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit our Lord Jesus Christ through him the Angels Praise Your Majesty the minions of the war and Powers tremble before you Heaven and the Virtues Of Heaven in the bus at syrup and worship together with exultation we are voices we pray join with theirs and humble praise as we explain holy holy holy Lord God of hosts Heaven and Earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord hosanna in the highest you are indeed holy O Lord the sound of all Holiness make holy there for these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the Dew fall so they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and getting things broke it and gave it to his disciples saying change this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and wants more giving thing he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the Chalice of my blood the blood the new and eternal Covenant which we put out for you and for many for the Forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of we Proclaim your death O Lord and profess your Resurrection until you come again therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and Resurrection we all feel or the bread of life in the church price of Salvation giving thanks to have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partake of the body and blood of Christ we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit remember Lord church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of Charity together with Francis our Pope and Joseph are bishop and all the clergy remember all the fallen asleep in the hope of the Resurrection and all who died in your mercy welcome of the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but Deliver Us from Evil Deliver Us Lord we pray from every evil graciously Grand peace in our days a better health of your mercy be always free from sin and safe from all the stress as your weight the Blessed hope in the coming of our savior best price for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever peace I leave you my peace I give you look not on our sins on the face of your shirt and graciously Grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will will live in reign forever and ever amen the worthy under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be for you my dear friends we're all very sad that we cannot physically receive the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ in the sacrament of holy communion the Eucharist by the same time we can still offer an act of spiritual communion and therefore together we pray my Jesus I believe that you are in the Blessed Sacrament I love you above all things and I long for you in my soul since I cannot now receive you sacramentally come at least spiritually into my heart as though you have already come I embrace you and unite myself entirely to you never permit me to be separated from you amen whatever you do in word or deed do everything in the name of the Lord giving thanks to God through him let us pray having said upon Heavenly Delights be humbly ask you Lord that by saying Joseph example cherishing in our hearts the signs of Your Love ever enjoy the fruit of Perpetual peace through Christ Our Lord amen and boys and girls before I offer you the final blessing I want to encourage q that you think all the people in your life for the hard work that they do for the jobs that they do because every job is Meaningful every job is important and every job is worthy to be done so thank your parents for their hard work your other family members perhaps many of you have signs on your front Lawns thanking the healthcare workers and four responders that are working extra hard during this difficult time of illness perhaps you can thank the mailman or the person delivering groceries or dinner to your home but even if you can't thank all these people for the work that they do personally you can always pray for them pray that they might have true respect and their jobs and that people might appreciate what they do you can also pray for your teachers and the faculty here of Academy of our Lady even sending them a note saying how much it means to you the hard work that they put in and these last several weeks we're time and which we have to be even more creative in the work we do and therefore so many people are relying on your prayers that they have the strength to continue their hard work and don't forget boys and girls that you're worth County whether it's your school work or your homework continue to do it at joyfully because the work that you do also is appreciated by your teachers by your parents by myself so continue to work hard the Lord be with you I'm a mighty God bless you the father and the Son and the Holy Spirits amen remain in the love and peace of Christ thanks be to God
