About the Teacher

My name is Nancy Folco and this is my 19th year teaching at Academy of Our Lady.  I taught first grade for eleven years and this will be my eighth year teaching second grade.

My goal is for all my students to have a desire and a love for learning.

I want them to grow in their faith and their relationship with Jesus.

I want my students to enjoy coming to school and to have fun while here.

Second grade is an important year.
I hope my students have a positive experience.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Felician College (now Felician University) in May '04 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (K-8) and Psychology.  I have a certification for Kindergarten through 8th grade with a special PreK through 3rd grade certification.  I have been trained in Orton-Gillingham as well as the Superkids Reading Program.  I have attended various workshops for my professional development which include training in the Common Core for Math, Language Arts, and Science, Smart Board/Promethean Board and iPad use in the classroom, and many others pertaining to a Catholic School classroom.   I am also a Google Certified Educator.

I am so blessed to have taught at Academy of Our Lady since I graduated from Felician.  I am dedicated to our school which is truly, my home away from home.  Over the years I have strived to become involved in various areas that help better our school community.

  • Since 2005 I have assisted and trained my colleagues in the technology our school uses: Google Education Tools (Classroom, Slides, Drive, Mail, Forms, Docs, Meet), Smart Boards, Promethean Boards, iPads, Website, ELMOs, Zoom, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • I have been the Safety Coordinator for Academy of Our Lady since 2014.
  • I have run the St. Jude's fundraiser since 2012 where we have raised over $196,000 for the kids and families of St. Jude's.
  • Mrs. Pardo and I have run our school's Faculty Fund on behalf of our faculty and staff since 2015.
  • In 2022/23 I helped run the school's Yearbook Club with Ms. Buckman.
  • Also in 2022/23, along with three other teachers, I ran the Service Learning Committee where we helped our students and families find ways to give back to those less fortunate than us.
  • Over the summer of 2020 I was part of the Reopening Committee that helped our school reopen safely after the pandemic hit.
  • I have been part of the Handbook Committee since it began to help guide our students and parents in our school's procedures and policies.

God Bless and thank you for visiting our website.
