Basketball

Academy of Our Lady is a proud member of the North West Parochial School League for basketball. The league was founded in 1974 and the spirit of the program is best captured by the words of founder Bill Kelly of Wyckoff who said, "(the league) was formed to benefit children and the Catholic Schools. This is an opportunity for the children to have fun, to learn about sports, to be part of a team, and to demonstrate the values and virtues they are learning in their Parochial School."

Academy of Our Lady fields teams in each of the three boys and girls divisions; 4th grade, 5th and 6th, 7th and 8th We also have a clinic for third graders. Each year, we usually have 15 teams in total, with nearly 150 children participating. The weekly clinic attracts another 30. Teams play a 10-12 game schedule beginning after Thanksgiving and ending with playoffs that are done around St Patrick's Day. Teams are divided evenly for talent, and everybody plays at least one consecutive quarter, with most playing at least a half, regardless of ability.

We emphasize recreation, participation, sportsmanship, and adherence to Catholic values.

Our kids practice hard, play hard, and cheer for each other even harder. We have a lot of fun in our beautiful, refurbished gym and we hope you join us as we build camaraderie and school spirit.
