This page is designed to help you with new systems we have in place.

Family Envelope

To help minimize the waste of duplicate flyers, notices and Links, we are implementing this Family Envelope system.  The youngest or only child in grades K-8 will receive a Family Envelope every Wednesday.  This envelope is expected to be emptied by the parent(s) and returned to school on Thursday in your child's backpack.  This will drastically cut down on paper waste as well as copy machine use.  In order for this to work, you must return your envelope on Thursday or you will not receive any further flyers/notices/Links.

Since Pre-K children do not come to school on consecutive days, this Family Envelope will not pertain to them.

HSA Dues

According to the Home and School Association Constitution (Bylaws), HSA dues were originally established as HSA membership fee. Over the last few years, dues were used mainly to pay for the printing costs of the school directory and the Link, and were set at $5.00 per family. HSA dues envelopes were distributed and collected by the class mothers at Back-to-school Night. Additionally, class mothers would make collections during the school year for various events. In the interest of simplifying collections by class mothers for faculty and staff Christmas, teacher appreciation and end-of-year gifts, this collection was combined with the former HSA dues to establish as a once a year $25.00 fee. This is paid with the first tuition payment via a separate coupon in your tuition packet.

HSA Membership

The Constitution states the following: 1. Any parent or guardian of Academy of Our Lady who expresses a desire to carry out the objectives of the HSA shall be eligible for membership, provided such a parent or guardian has paid the dues required as hereinafter set forth. 2. Membership dues shall be paid on a per-family basis. The membership dues shall be determined by the HSA Board annually for the following school year or as needed. 3. Members who have paid their dues are entitled to vote in regular elections and will receive the HSA family directory.

HSA Assessment Change

1. The HSA's assessment is $61,000.00 for the 2007-8 school year.   HSA dues are $25 per family.   The School Advisory Board's Finance Committee will need to assess future increases and fund raising goals as each school year's budget is formulated.

2. For the 2007-2008 school year, the three major fund raisers are Gift Wrap/Entertainment Books, Annual Appeal and 50/50 Raffle. Any money over the $61,000.00 assessment plus operating costs, would be earmarked for specific projects or school needs.

We hope this helps explain how vital each families participation is in our school budget. Meeting our assessment each year contributes to keeping our tuition reasonable. "By sharing our assessment in an equitable manner, we all share our financial responsibility for the quality of education we have chosen for our children." Our volunteers are what make Academy of Our Lady run so smoothly and your time and talents are key to out schools success.
