Some Facts About Tuition


 SOME FACTS ABOUT TUITION

Tuition and fees, H.S.A. fundraising, gifts and other miscellaneous income and $165,000.00 of financial support from Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Catharine parishes provide the necessary revenue to operate our school (Pre-K through 8). In the upcoming 2012-2013 school year, total operating expenses are budgeted at $2,654,122 or about $5,666 per child.  This is substantially less than half the cost of public schools.  This cost per child includes NJ state text book and nursing services aid. 

The tuition and fees for next year reflects a 9.4% increase over 2011-2012.  The tuition increase reflects higher medical insurance, pension expense and enrollment. In light of the current economic times, the faculty and staff will receive a 2% salary increase, the same as the last two years.  This follows a salary freeze in 2010.

  
Parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Catharine have lower tuition rates than non-parishioners because parishioners are asked to make contributions to their respective parishes at Sunday Mass.

The following describes our revenues (K-8) on the basis of a family who is a parishioner.

As you can see, parish support increases for families with two or more children. This is an offset to tuition discounts provided such families and the absence of some fees on the 2nd or more children in the family.
