Principal's Newsletter June 2017

Dear Academy of Our Lady families,

Congratulations to the Class of 2017! We will remember you always, and keep you in our prayers. Enjoy your summer, and best of luck in High School!

Congratulations to the class of 2025 who received their diplomas and lollipops in the traditional Kindergarten Graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 10. Each student did a wonderful job singing and reciting poems that shared their school year with us. Thank you to our teachers Mrs. Michele DiPiano and Mrs. MaryEllen Parto, assisted by Mrs. Cyndi Lynch and Mrs. Laurie Kane, who prepared them so well throughout the year. The students demonstrated that they are indeed ready for 1st grade. We wish them a wonderful and restful summer!!

Please note that final report cards will be distributed on Wednesday, June 21. This year’s summer reading and summer math assignments will be online. All summer math is IXL, and reading will vary by grade. Please encourage your children not to wait until the last minute to complete these important assignments.

Terra Nova Update: As you are already aware, there has been a delay in receiving our students’ Terra Nova Scores. The Archdiocese of Newark is actively working with the testing company to resolve the issue. The Home Reports will be mailed directly to you when available.

A Special Thank You To All Our Volunteers: There is no way to adequately let you know just how much you do makes each day successful for our students and school. Many programs would not happen or be possible without your dedication. Whether it be a member of the HSA, or Fathers’ Guild, serving on a committee, an advisory board member, lunch or library assistant, rest assured that no deed goes unnoticed, and it is truly a gift of service! I would especially like to recognize the outstanding work done by Kevin and Liz Conyngham to make this year’s 50/50 raffle a success. On behalf of the faculty and staff, I thank you!!

Congratulations to all that participated in Academy’s Got Talent 2017. It was a great show!! A special thank you to Mrs. Stephanie Budelmann and Mrs. Mary Denio for all their work moderating this wonderful event.

Happy Retirement: We offer our best wishes to Mrs. Karen Krug our 8th grade homeroom and 7th / 8th grade Social Studies teacher. Mrs. Krug has served the Academy well, and embraced every aspect of her role in the Academy of Our Lady family. I personally extend a thank you for answering the call during my time of need! Thank you Karen, and we wish you well.

New Principal update: As of now, the search committee has been put together, and the Archdiocese is actively pursuing qualified candidates for interviews. Several members of the School Advisory Board are engaged in the process, and would welcome the chance to speak about the progress. Please reach out to Mr. Brian Moore, President of the SAB, if you have any questions or concerns. You may email

I want to take this opportunity to thank the entire Academy of Our Lady community. These past 10 years have been a blur, especially the final 3. Looking back, never once did I feel like this place wasn’t my home away from home, and I have you all to thank for that. As we say our goodbyes, please know that I will keep you all in my prayers, and I wish you nothing but the very best.

As you may be aware, I will be making my transition to St. Joseph Regional High School over the course of the summer and will still be available in the AoOL office should you need to reach me.
