Dear Parents,

October was a busy month at Academy of Our Lady. We hope your families enjoyed our many Halloween festivities! Many thanks to Ms. Boughner and the Advanced Band for providing the music during our Parade.  We are collecting leftover Halloween candy for donation to NJ Food & Clothing Rescue.

Friday, November 4th is 12:15 pm dismissal - aftercare is available. Families are welcome to join our teachers at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark for Mass at 1:30 pm.

On October 20, our 8th grade academic team competed at St. Joseph Regional HS Scholastic Olympics.  Our students took 3rd place, and also won individual trophies:  first and second place in English, 2nd place in History, 3rd place in Computers, and 3rd place in Superquiz.  Thank you to Mrs. Carol Knapp for all your hard work in preparing our students.

Last weekend, OLMC hosted Pledge Weekend to launch our school's Annual Appeal. We appreciate the support of Msgr. Ron Rozniak and his staff in this endeavor. Many thanks to Mrs. Stephanie Budelman for coordinating and to all the AoOL families who participated. The parishioners of OLMC were certainly impressed with our students.

The AoOL community continues to offer service to others. Thank you to Mrs. Conniff for organizing the donation of retired school uniforms, textbooks and supplies to Liberia. The 5th Graders are very grateful for your support of their Family Promise collection. Some of our 7th Grade Girls Scouts, along with Mrs. Liz Lee, arranged for the "Air Bus" to present asthma screenings to our middle school students.

I was pleased to meet so many Pre-K and Kindergarten parents at the Social in early October. I would also like to welcome Christina Mulligan, our new PreK3 Aide who will be working with Mrs. Knapp and Mrs. Rief on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I encourage you to attend the Fall Social on Saturday, November 12th. Please RSVP by Friday, November 4th. The HSA has been working tirelessly with your children to create original art pieces. Proceeds will benefit the AoOL Music and Fine Arts Guild.

Sincerely,

Mr. Stephen J. Roberts
