The
lab has 26 IBM Pentium 4, Windows XP computers . An LCD Projector is
connected to the new Dell XPS 600 desktop, allowing the teacher to project the image
on her computer so the
students can follow on a large wall mounted screen. There are 2 printers in
the lab, a black and white laser and a color laser (HP 4550). Two scanners
are utilized for the student production of our annual yearbook, as well as
various student and classroom projects, including the literary magazine,
throughout the school year. We have a networked system that links the Library,
Computer Lab, and all Classrooms. Every student, Pre-K enrichment through 8th
grade has computer instruction
once a week. Classroom teachers also utilize the lab for lesson enrichment.
All students and parents must
sign an "Acceptable Use Agreement for Technology" which covers the proper usage
of equipment, the internet, and technology in the school.
Students are closely monitored when using the Internet and the school has a fire wall to filter objectionable material. This year we will be continuing with the i-Safe, Internet safety program. i-Safe is a government funded non-profit foundation whose mission is to educate and empower youth with the ability to take control of their internet experience by giving them vital knowledge that will enable them to recognize and avoid dangerous, destructive, or unlawful online behavior and to respond appropriately. The program is set up in a multi-level age appropriate format.
The 2008 - 2009 year will continue to focus on interdisciplinary work between the subject
teachers and the computer room. Teachers will be assigning work and projects
that must be completed and or researched in the lab.
