In Class: Each
week we will complete a new chapter Each
Thursday (or at the end of the chapter) there will be a Chapter quiz After
each Unit is completed there will be a Unit test Each Friday there
will be projects/activities completed to go along with the chapter just
finished There will be
homework each night (written and/or study) Service: We will complete a
service project each month as a class Audrey Hepburn House, Newark Archdiocesan Mission in the Turks and Caicos,
Several Sources Shelters for Moms and Babies, and our service men and
women overseas are just some of the areas we will focus on during our
service ·
Students will also be
required to complete individual service each week as discussed in class
and keep a service journal Our service journals will need a parent response and signature each week

| Spelling/Vocabulary |
In Class: Each week we will complete a new unit We
will alternate between spelling lists and vocabulary lists depending on
the length of the week Each
Friday there will be a Unit test spelling and/or vocabulary After
a few units are completed there will be a Review and Test of all that has
been completed Specific
Skills will be covered each week along with the spelling and definitions
There will be homework each night
(written and/or study)

Literature

In Class: Each week we will read a new story Each week we will cover new skills Each Friday there will be a short quiz on the story and
skills of the week Projects will be assigned at the beginning of the week
and due in class on Friday There will be homework each night (written and/or study) On your own: Students
are required to have an enjoyable reading book with them in school at all
times in all classes Additional reading will be required for Reading class and must be done on
the students own time AR books are to be read and a test must be taken according to the
following schedule: Book
1 – Students choice - Test must be taken on or before September
30, 2008 Book
2 – Mystery Book – Test must be taken on or before October
29, 2008 (additional book report/project will be assigned
also this month) Book
3 – Students choice – Test must be taken on or before November
20, 2008 Trimester 2 Book 1 - Students choice - Test must be taken on or before December 19, 2008 Book 2 - Students choice - Test must be taken on or before January 23, 2008 Book 3 - Biography/Autobiography - Test must be taken on or before February 27, 2008 (book must be about an influential African American for Black History Month) (additional book report/project will be assigned also this month)
In class contest: Additional
reading beyond the one book per month is strongly recommended!!! All students who read AR books during the trimester are encouraged to take
the test and turn in the report All AR
books that are read and test taken will be tallied and prizes will be
given at the end of the trimester for the most books read
