Mrs.
Darlene O’Brien, second grade teacher, is looking “forward to getting to
know all of [her] students and helping them to develop academically, socially, and
spiritually.” She plans to
do this by enabling each child to feel safe, welcome, and secure while making
“learning a joy for each of [her] students.”
Mrs. O’Brien grew up and was educated in Clifton. She is a graduate of William Paterson College with a B.A. in Elementary Education and permanent certification for grades K-8; in addition, she is a certified nursery school teacher. She has taught for a number of years in both public and parochial settings. She and her husband, Tom, have two daughters with whom she spends much of her free time. She has also been involved in a number of community areas – Brownie leader, PTA, and summer day camp- and enjoys bowling, reading, traveling, crocheting.
Mrs. O’Brien considers teaching at Academy of Our Lady a privilege and plans to teach her students in a caring, fair, structured educational environment. She feels that, in this way, she can “encourage each child to work and learn to their fullest potential.”
